Fried Green Tomatoes

2 medium green tomatoes

 Beaten egg

Dry bread crumbs

 Salt and pepper (and whatever other dried herbs you think might taste good!)

 Oil or bacon fat


Slice tomatoes about 1/4 inch thick. Heat the oil or bacon fat in a heavy frying pan. Dip tomatoes in eggs, then seasoned bread crumbs (add salt, pepper and herbs to the bread crumbs before dipping). Slowly fry them in the oil or fat until golden brown on both sides. Serve warm and enjoy! Add additional salt and pepper if you desire.
